I enjoy painting ‘en plein air’ directly and spontaneously from the Sussex landscape and shoreline, where I live. I have also painted in Yorkshire and the Yorkshire Dales where I was born and brought up.
I use watercolour, pen and wash, acrylics and occasionally oil and some mixed media.
My passion and inspiration lies with the play of light and weather on the colours of the landscape, and the effect this has on the atmosphere, texture and mood of the painting.
When the weather does not permit painting outdoors I paint still life in my studio or develop larger paintings from my sketchbook work.
My degree is in Printed Textile Design and I studied at Chelsea School of Art, graduating in 1991. I have exhibited in the UK and New York and since 2008 have been part of the Brighton Open Houses Art Festival, Europe’s largest and longest running affordable art event.
I also run the Treacle & Ginger arts cafe on Church Road, Hove in Hove with my husband, Mike.
